The GT is over, and full of controversy...
Lots and lots of injuries, DoPing accusations, surprise winners, criticism of stages, petitions for redesign of the tour...
Anyway, what is kept on redop history is a GC 4th place by Yasunari Yamauchi. Climbing specialist YY struggled in the mountains loosing many minutes to TT specialist Lonergan and winner of the tour. Sprinter specialist Soldan almost took the 4th place, but its climbing ability was not enough for YY and finished 13'' behind our man.
Vice-winner last season, Vasco Assis recovered from an injury just in time to prepare for Germany Tour, where he would get injured once again (4th time of the season). We hope he can recover in time to captain the team at the World Championships.
These results were enough to secure the 4th place in the OCM rankings for a while more, but the team needs points to replenish those won by Tuero at last season's Nederlandse Tour.
Goal for the remainder of the season: Maintain a position with the OCM elite (top 5) till the end of the season. Get a result at the World Championships.

:D
a victory with Tuero yesterday and another one with Peters today puts me in 3rd in the OCM rankings!
tomorrow i loose 300 pts, but for a day I'm on Top 3!
I'm not disagreeing that Martin is head and shoulders better than everyone in the world not named Cancellara, but I AM telling you that Tony Martin will win a TdF before Bradley Wiggins ever does lol
(Not to say we should expect either one of them to ever win one, but I think Martin will eventually be able to sneak onto the podium)
I will be my entire life that Tony Martin will not out climb Wiggins, considering Wiggins just won the Dauphine and Tony has had a tough season. And Wiggins is a great TTer but Tony Martin is on another level.. He is probably the only TTer who can make Cancellara sweat..
Tony Martin will out-climb Bradley Wiggins in the 2012 TdF, mark my words.
And don't forget that prior to his focus on climbing/GC, Wiggins WAS one of the best TTers in the world (which is why performances like his recent Dauphine TT shouldn't surprise us)
no way, its like Tony Martin winning the TDF... great TTer but cant climb.
lol Go Wiggins!
Wiggins brings Ender to my mind...
It's like Bradley Wiggins winning the TdF without being able to climb... (WHICH HE CAN'T)
Congrats YY actually deserves to be up there. I just feel bad for you guys since Germany Tour is now a joke :(
Congrats to YY. I thought you were going to take 3rd place from me, but Drejbo finally managed to get a few points. You might still get that 3rd in a few days. Good luck.
VA 4 times injured???
